There will be a total of 50 Premier League derbies in 2025/26 after the fixtures were released on Wednesday.

A derby is a match between two teams that are geographically close, which is often in the same city or region, and are fierce rivals.

There is one exception to this rule though, with London-based Crystal Palace and Sussex-based Brighton & Hove Albion, classified as a derby. 

This is because both teams played each other frequently during the 1970s, including five times in the 1976/77 season. Both teams are also separated by the M23 motorway, with one road linking Sussex to south London.
