Colombia Qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup

Colombia is back on the world’s biggest stage. After missing out on Qatar 2022, Los Cafeteros sealed their return with a commanding 3-0 win over Bolivia in Barranquilla.

It was a night to remember for James Rodríguez, who opened the scoring in the 31st minute. The 34-year-old, who lit up the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, is now set for his third appearance at the tournament.

Jhon Córdoba doubled the lead in the 74th minute, before Juan Fernando Quintero sealed the victory late on, ensuring Colombia’s seventh World Cup appearance.

“This jersey has given me so much,” James said afterward. “I’m grateful for everything I’m doing. I’ve always given everything, and I’ll keep the good things for myself.”

Colombia’s World Cup journey has been full of highs and lows. After their debut in Chile 1962, they enjoyed a run of three straight appearances in the 1990s. The golden generation of James and company brought them back in 2014 and 2018, and now the cycle continues in 2026.
