Juventus 1-1 Atalanta: Cabal snatches point after Sulemana stunner

Juventus 1-1 Atalanta: Cabal snatches point after Sulemana stunner.

Both sides came into the clash unbeaten in Serie A. Juventus had already dropped points once, while Atalanta were carrying back-to-back league wins into Turin despite a bruising Champions League defeat to PSG. Injuries were mounting for both squads: Juve without Fabio Miretti, Arek Milik, and Francisco Conceição, while La Dea missed key names like Scalvini, Scamacca, and Kolasinac.

Atalanta hadn’t lost away to Juve since March 2018, and memories of last season’s 4-0 demolition at the Allianz Stadium still lingered.

Early Juve pressure

The Bianconeri nearly struck inside two minutes when Kenan Yildiz picked out Pierre Kalulu at the far post, only for his header to cannon off the upright. Vasilije Adzic, making his first start, went close on multiple occasions, forcing Marco Carnesecchi into sharp saves and seeing another effort deflected onto the woodwork.

Atalanta also carried threat, with Berat Djimsiti heading just over from a corner.

Sulemana strikes before the break

Kamaldeen Sulemana was a menace down the left, and after warning signs with a mazy run, he punished Juve on the stroke of half-time. Adzic was caught in possession and Sulemana danced into the box before drilling past Michele Di Gregorio. The Ghanaian celebrated his second league goal of the season with trademark back-flips.

Juve chase, Atalanta squander chances

Nikola Krstovic should have doubled the visitors’ lead after the restart but dragged wide from close range. Pasalic then forced Di Gregorio into a fingertip stop with a looping header.

Juve, meanwhile, piled forward but struggled to truly test Carnesecchi, and their frustrations grew when Bremer limped off injured.

Cabal equalises in chaos

The breakthrough came in the 78th minute. Odilon Kossounou completely missed a clearance on João Mário’s delivery, and Juan Cabal pounced on the loose ball to lash home from close range.

Red card swings momentum

Just two minutes later, Marten de Roon’s rash challenge on Weston McKennie earned him a second yellow, reducing Atalanta to ten men. From there it was one-way traffic as Juve laid siege.

Carnesecchi, however, stood tall—denying McKennie from point-blank range and tipping away a deflected Zhegrova strike to preserve a point.

Final score

Juventus 1-1 Atalanta

⚽ Sulemana 45 (ATA)

⚽ Cabal 78 (JUV)

🟥 De Roon 80 (ATA)

Atalanta remain unbeaten and continue their impressive run in Turin, while Juventus will feel they let two points slip despite dominating late on.
