Marseille beats PSG to end champion’s winning start to Ligue 1.

Marseille stunned reigning champion Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 on Monday, ending a 12-game home losing streak in the fixture and knocking PSG off the Ligue 1 summit.

Nayef Aguerd’s header in the fifth minute—after goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier misjudged a cross—proved decisive. PSG dominated possession but rarely threatened, while Marseille came closest to extending the lead when Amine Gouiri hit the bar and another strike was ruled out for offside.

Geronimo Rulli anchored a resolute Marseille defense that held firm even after coach Roberto De Zerbi was sent off. The victory gave Marseille three straight home wins to start the league season and lifted it to sixth.

PSG slipped into joint second, level on points with Monaco, Lyon, and Strasbourg.
