Mbappé hat trick fires Real Madrid to 5–0 Champions League rout

Real Madrid bounced back from their derby defeat in emphatic style, cruising to a 5–0 Champions League victory

The hosts nearly struck inside the opening seconds, forcing Thibaut Courtois into an early save, and Madrid looked rattled in the opening exchanges. But once they settled, the pressure began to mount. Their breakthrough came when a poor defensive header let Franco Mastantuono nip in ahead of 18-year-old goalkeeper Sherhan Kalmurza, who brought him down for a penalty. Kylian Mbappé converted with ease to open the scoring.

After the break, Mbappé took over. Just minutes into the second half he doubled Madrid’s lead with a delicate finish over the advancing Kalmurza, set up by Courtois. On 73 minutes, he completed his hat trick — his fourth in the Champions League — after fine link-up play from Rodrygo Goes and Arda Güler.

With the game well in hand, Xabi Alonso turned to his bench, and Eduardo Camavinga marked his return from injury by heading home Rodrygo’s cross for 4–0. The final word came with the last kick of the night, when Gonzalo García slipped in Brahim Díaz to slot home Madrid’s fifth.

It was a ruthless response from the Spanish giants, who now return to the capital with confidence restored ahead of their next clash with Villarreal.
