We never give up- Nketiah floors Liverpool with stoppage-time strike

Eddie Nketiah fired Crystal Palace to a dramatic 2-1 victory over Liverpool at Selhurst Park on Saturday, sealing the points with a 97th-minute winner.

The Eagles, buoyed by the return of Ismaila Sarr, struck first and frustrated the reigning Premier League champions for most of the afternoon. Liverpool finally clawed their way back into the game in the 87th minute when substitute Federico Chiesa grabbed an equaliser.

But Palace’s own super-sub had the final say. Nketiah latched onto a flick from a long throw and kept his composure to finish clinically, surviving a tense VAR check before sparking wild celebrations in south London.

Liverpool stay top of the table on 15 points from six games, while Palace leapfrog into second with 12.

Speaking after the game, Nketiah praised the spirit within Oliver Glasner’s side:

“The boys are in great form and we feel like we can win every game. That’s the culture here – we never give up, we never stop believing. The manager just told me to come on and fight for the team. Thankfully I was able to help.”

He admitted the decisive goal was all about composure:

“It was flicked on and I just focused on my first touch. I trust both feet and it was a nice finish with the left. The VAR wait made it nerve-wracking, but it was no less than the boys deserved.”

Speaking to Sky Sports, he added:

“We stayed calm, kept believing, and got our reward. There aren’t many teams who create that many chances against Liverpool, so three points were fully deserved. We’ll keep pushing, one game at a time, and try to bring more success for the fans.”
