Afcon 2025-26 schedule and kick-off times
Afcon 2025-26 venues: Where is it being played?
Originally, Guinea was set to host the 2025 edition. However, in September 2022, CAF President Patrice Motsepe confirmed the country would lose hosting rights due to inadequate infrastructure and readiness.
Morocco was subsequently awarded the tournament on September 27, 2023, marking its second time as host — the first being in 1988.
Initially planned for the summer to reduce club season conflicts, the competition was pushed to winter due to the expanded FIFA Club World Cup.
The tournament will now take place between Sunday, December 21, 2025, and Sunday, January 18, 2026 — the first-ever AFCON held over the Christmas and New Year period.
