Netherlands Clinch World Cup 2026 Spot With Confident Group-Winning Display.

The Netherlands will once again compete on football’s biggest stage after sealing their 2026 FIFA World Cup berth with a commanding 4–0 victory over Lithuania in Amsterdam. The Dutch entered the match needing only a draw but instead delivered a stylish performance to top Group G unbeaten.

Midfielder Tijjani Reijnders set the tone early, sweeping home the opener in the 16th minute after a defensive error.
In the second half, Cody Gakpo doubled the lead from the penalty spot following a handball. Xavi Simons added the third, and Donyell Malen capped the night with a stunning solo run from his own half.

The win continues the Netherlands’ quest to finally capture their first World Cup trophy, having finished as runners-up in 1974, 1978, and 2010. Their qualification brings relief after their heartbreaking 2022 quarterfinal exit to Argentina on penalties.

Poland also finished their campaign strongly with a 3–2 victory over Malta, featuring goals from Robert Lewandowski and an 85th-minute winner by Piotr ZieliÅ„ski. The Poles will now compete in the playoffs alongside Slovakia.

With Monday’s result, the Netherlands join Germany and other European giants already booked for the 2026 tournament hosted jointly by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
