Portugal Edge Austria 1–0 to Win Their First FIFA U-17 World Cup Title in Qatar

Portugal claimed their first-ever FIFA U-17 World Cup, beating Austria 1–0 in the 2025 final at Khalifa International Stadium in Doha.

Anísio Cabral scored the decisive goal in the 32nd minute, finishing off a slick Portuguese move to secure the trophy for the reigning European U-17 champions. Cabral ended the tournament with seven goals, just behind Austria’s Johannes Moser, who led all scorers with eight.

Austria pushed hard late on, with substitute Daniel Frauscher hitting the post in the 85th minute, but Portugal held firm in a tense, evenly fought final.

FIFA’s chief of global football development, Arsène Wenger, praised the inaugural 48-team edition in Qatar as a “football paradise,” predicting it would spur youth development worldwide.

Earlier, Italy beat Brazil on penalties (4–2) to take third place after a goalless draw.
