Vancouver Whitecaps beat San Diego FC 3-1 reach first-every MLS Cup Final in 2025
The Vancouver Whitecaps are heading to their first-ever MLS Cup after a 3–1 win over San Diego FC in the Western Conference final on Saturday, Nov. 29.
Brian White, the team’s top scorer during the regular season, delivered two goals in the victory at Snapdragon Stadium.
With the win, Vancouver moves on to face Lionel Messi and Inter Miami in MLS Cup. Miami cruised past New York City FC in the Eastern Conference final. The 2025 MLS Cup is set for Saturday, Dec. 6, at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida (2:30 p.m. ET on Apple TV and FOX).
This trip to MLS Cup caps off a massive season under first-year head coach Jesper Sørensen. Earlier in the year, the Whitecaps reached the Concacaf Champions Cup final—falling to Cruz Azul—and famously knocked out Messi and Inter Miami in the semifinals. They also claimed a fourth straight Canadian Championship.
Vancouver becomes the first Canadian MLS team to reach the league’s title match since Toronto FC in 2019.
San Diego, meanwhile, was hoping to become the first expansion club since the Chicago Fire in 1998 to reach MLS Cup. That bid fell short, ending two wins away from a historic achievement.
Inter Miami and Vancouver will be the 20th and 21st different teams to appear in MLS Cup.
