YouTube & FIFA Partner for 2026 World Cup: Live Game Clips & Full Matches

YouTube and FIFA Announce Partnership for 2026 World Cup: Broadcasters Can Stream Live Game Segments

On March 17, 2026, FIFA revealed a new "game-changing" partnership with YouTube ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup (June 11–July 19, co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico). The deal positions YouTube as a Preferred Platform for the tournament, aiming to reach younger, global audiences through digital innovation while complementing traditional TV broadcasts.

Key Details of the Partnership

Live Streaming for Broadcasters: Rights-holding broadcasters (official media partners) can now stream the first 10 minutes of every match live on their YouTube channels. This acts as a "teaser" to hook viewers—especially younger fans—before directing them to full coverage on traditional platforms like network TV.

Full Match Streaming: Select matches can be streamed in their entirety on broadcasters' YouTube channels to engage wider global audiences and promote where to watch the rest of the tournament.

FIFA Archive Content: FIFA will share portions of its World Cup archive on YouTube, including full-length past matches and iconic moments from the sport's history.

Creator Access: A global group of YouTube creators will receive unprecedented behind-the-scenes access during the 104-game tournament, building on YouTube's lower-tier sponsorship role at the 2022 Qatar World Cup (which focused on creator content).

Financial Value: The deal's monetary terms were not disclosed.

This collaboration builds on FIFA's recent digital pushes (e.g., similar partnerships with TikTok) and aligns with the tournament's massive scale—expected to draw billions of viewers worldwide. It also reflects evolving media trends, where platforms like YouTube expand access beyond linear TV, particularly for emerging and younger demographics. The partnership was announced in Zurich and is part of FIFA's broader strategy to maximize engagement for the expanded 48-team, North America-hosted World Cup.
