Mohamed Salah Injury: How Long Is He Out? Liverpool Farewell and World Cup Hopes in Doubt

Mohamed Salah’s emotional farewell season at Liverpool has hit a worrying note. The Egyptian superstar, who is leaving Anfield this summer after nine incredible years, picked up an injury during Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Crystal Palace on April 25, 2026.Salah was forced off in the 59th minute while Liverpool were leading 2-0.

He went down clutching his left hamstring and looked in real pain as he walked off the pitch.Manager Arne Slot was cautious afterwards, saying: “We simply don’t know” how serious it is.

He added that it’s too early to tell the extent of the injury, but noted how rare it is for Salah to ask to come off. “The season is in four weeks over, so there are not a lot of games being played,” Slot said, leaving open the possibility that Salah’s time at Liverpool could end prematurely.

Liverpool’s Remaining Fixtures

Liverpool have four Premier League matches left:

Sunday, May 3: Manchester United (away)

Saturday, May 9: Chelsea (home)

Sunday, May 17: Aston Villa (away)

Saturday, May 24: Brentford (home – final day at Anfield)

The home games against Chelsea and Brentford would have been perfect opportunities for fans to give Salah a proper send-off. Now it’s uncertain whether he’ll feature again in a Liverpool shirt.

How Long Could Salah Be Out?

It’s a suspected hamstring injury, which can range from a few days (minor strain) to several weeks or even months, depending on the grade. Scans will give a clearer picture in the coming days. Given Salah’s excellent fitness record and how well he looks after his body, Liverpool are hoping for the best-case scenario — but they’re not taking any risks.

What About the
Egypt 2026 FIFA World Cup?

The injury also casts doubt on Salah’s preparations for the 2026 World Cup, which starts on June 11. Egypt are in Group G and face:

June 15: Belgium

June 21/22: New Zealand

June 26: Iran

Egypt also have warm-up games, including one against Brazil on June 6. With the tournament just over six weeks away from the injury date, a significant hamstring issue could affect Salah’s fitness and sharpness, or even rule him out entirely if it’s severe. This is a tough blow for Liverpool fans and for Salah himself, who has delivered so many unforgettable moments at the club. Everyone is hoping the 33-year-old can make at least one more appearance before saying goodbye.
