Teen Sensation Kerim Alajbegovic Stuns Qatar 3-1 as Bosnia-Herzegovina Move Closer to World Cup Knockout Stage

A wonder goal, a historic record, and a dramatic finish — Bosnia-Herzegovina delivered a huge World Cup statement with a 3-1 victory over Qatar.

Sergej Barbarez’s side knew a win at Seattle Stadium would put them in a strong position to reach the knockout stage, and they responded with a confident attacking display.

Bosnia dominated early, firing several long-range efforts before 18-year-old Kerim Alajbegovic produced a stunning strike in the 29th minute. His powerful finish into the corner made him the eighth-youngest goalscorer in World Cup history.

Five minutes later, Qatar’s night got worse when Mahmoud Abunada scored an own goal, giving Bosnia a 2-0 lead. Edin Dzeko almost added another before halftime, hitting the post.

Qatar fought back as Hassan Al Haydos pulled one goal back just before the break, while Pedro Miguel’s effort hitting the woodwork kept their hopes alive.

But Bosnia held their ground and sealed the win late on when substitute Ermin Mahmic scored after Qatar failed to clear a corner.

With the victory, Bosnia-Herzegovina are now on the verge of reaching the World Cup knockout stage — and young star Kerim Alajbegovic has announced himself on football’s biggest stage.
