Who will the USA Play in the World Cup Round of 32? Possible Opponents & Bracket Breakdown

The United States Men’s National Team has officially advanced to the Round of 32 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after clinching a spot with a game to spare. 

Following a 4-1 opening win over Paraguay and a 2-0 victory against Australia on June 19 in Seattle, the USMNT topped Group D with six points and secured first place after Paraguay defeated Türkiye later that day.

Who Will the USMNT Play in the Round of 32?


As winners of Group D, the United States will face the third-place team from one of the following groups:

Group B: Canada, Switzerland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, or Qatar

Group E: Germany, Ivory Coast, Ecuador, or Curacao

Group F: Sweden, Japan, Netherlands, or Tunisia

Group I: Norway, France, Senegal, or Iraq

Group J: Argentina, Algeria, Jordan, or Austria

The exact opponent will not be determined until all group stage matches are completed.


When and Where Will the USMNT Play?

Date: Tuesday, July 1, 2026

Venue: Levi’s Stadium, Santa Clara, California

The match is scheduled at Levi’s Stadium thanks to the USMNT finishing first in Group D. Kickoff time will be announced after the full bracket is finalized. 

The USMNT is now focused on its final group stage match against Türkiye on June 25 at SoFi Stadium, where a strong result could further boost momentum heading into the knockout stage. 

As co-hosts of the 2026 World Cup, the United States will look to make a deep run in front of home crowds.
