UEFA Champions League Draw 2026/27: Arsenal, Liverpool & Full League Phase Fixtures
Europe’s top clubs are set to discover their opponents for the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League league phase on Thursday, August 27.
The draw takes place at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco, with 36 teams waiting to learn their league phase opponents.
Paris Saint-Germain enter the competition looking to win a third consecutive Champions League title. Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Arsenal and several other European giants will also be among the teams targeting the trophy.
The 2026/27 season is the third campaign under the current league phase format.
New Champions League Draw Rule for 2026-27
UEFA has introduced a new restriction for this season’s league phase.
Two clubs cannot play the same individual league phase fixture for three consecutive seasons.
The rule affects several potential matchups involving clubs that have faced each other in the previous two campaigns.
For example, Arsenal cannot travel to Inter Milan this season after playing at San Siro in each of the previous two seasons. Arsenal can still face Inter at home.
Liverpool also cannot host Real Madrid during the league phase. However, Liverpool can still travel to the Santiago Bernabéu.
When Will the Full Champions League Schedule Be Released?
The draw will determine each club’s eight opponents, but it will not immediately confirm every fixture date.
UEFA is expected to release the complete Champions League league phase schedule by Saturday, August 29.
The final schedule will include the dates and kickoff times for every league phase match.
Champions League 2026/27 Format Explained
The 2026/27 Champions League features 36 clubs in one league table.
Each team plays eight league phase matches. Four games take place at home and four are played away.
The competition then moves into the knockout rounds.
The top eight teams in the league table automatically qualify for the round of 16.
Teams finishing from ninth through 24th enter two-legged knockout play-offs for a place in the round of 16.
The bottom 12 teams are eliminated from the competition.
