Crystal Palace thrash Liverpool 3-0 to extend dominance in EFL Cup

Crystal Palace stun Liverpool 3-0 at Anfield to reach EFL Cup next round.

Crystal Palace continued their impressive run against Liverpool, securing a commanding 3-0 win at Anfield in the EFL Cup to make it three victories in a row over the Reds this season.

Two goals from Ismaila Sarr and a late strike from Yeremy Pino sealed the result for Palace, who outclassed a youthful and heavily rotated Liverpool side missing key players like Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk.

Liverpool’s night went from bad to worse when teenager Amara Nallo was sent off in the 80th minute, leaving them down to ten men while already trailing 2-0.

The defeat adds to a worrying stretch for Arne Slot’s team, who have now lost four consecutive matches in all competitions.

Sarr opened the scoring five minutes before halftime after capitalizing on a defensive mix-up by Joe Gomez, and doubled Palace’s lead just before the break with a calm finish past debutant goalkeeper Freddie Woodman.

Despite a bright start from 17-year-old Rio Ngumoha and a missed chance from Federico Chiesa, Liverpool couldn’t recover. Palace maintained control throughout, and Yeremy Pino’s composed finish in the 87th minute completed the rout.

For Palace, it’s another statement win over Liverpool following triumphs in the Community Shield and Premier League earlier this season. For the Reds, it’s a harsh reminder of their current struggles as they prepare to face Aston Villa in the Premier League on Sunday.
