Australia 2026 FIFA World Cup squad: Full Roster, All Player List

Socceroos Preliminary Squad for 2026 FIFA World Cup: Full Roster by Position

Australia’s World Cup countdown is entering its final stretch, with Socceroos coach Tony Popovic now facing the difficult task of trimming his squad down to 26 players ahead of next month’s tournament.

With just over a week remaining before the official squad announcement on June 1, competition for places is heating up inside Australia’s training camp in Florida. A number of players are still fighting for their ticket to the World Cup, while others appear all but certain to board the plane.

Unlike the experienced generation that reached the 2006 World Cup, this new-look Socceroos squad is packed with young and relatively unfamiliar faces. However, there is confidence growing around the group as Popovic — himself a veteran of Germany 2006 — prepares to lead Australia onto football’s biggest stage.

Around 31 players are currently involved in camp, with several hopefuls using the final days to impress the coaching staff. Australia will also face Mexico in a friendly on May 30, giving fringe players one last opportunity to make their case before the final selection is confirmed.

More players, including Middlesbrough midfielder Riley McGree and highly-rated defender Lucas Herrington, are expected to join the camp once their club commitments finish this weekend. The pressure is now on as Popovic shapes the squad he believes can compete against Turkey, Paraguay and the United States at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
