Senegal names final 26-men squad for 2026 FIFA World Cup: Mane, Mendy, Sarr included; Full list of players
Senegal have officially unveiled their squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup as the Lions of Teranga prepare for their fourth appearance on football’s biggest stage. The West African giants will head into the tournament carrying both experience and expectation, hoping to recreate the magic of their unforgettable debut in 2002, when they stunned the world by reaching the quarter-finals before heartbreak against Turkey’s golden goal ended their dream run.
Head coach Pape Thiaw named a strong and experienced group led by captain Kalidou Koulibaly, who brings leadership and more than 100 international appearances to the squad. Senegal will once again look to iconic forward Sadio Mané for inspiration. The 34-year-old remains the face of Senegalese football, holding the nation’s all-time scoring record with 53 goals in 126 appearances.
Veteran midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye also makes the squad, extending his remarkable international journey as Senegal’s most-capped player with 131 appearances. Despite announcing the squad, Thiaw still has two final cuts to make before confirming the official 26-man list for the tournament.
Senegal booked their place at the 2026 World Cup after coming through a competitive qualifying group featuring DR Congo, Sudan, South Sudan, Togo and Mauritania. Mané once again proved decisive during qualification, finishing as Senegal’s top scorer with five goals.
With a squad blending seasoned stars and emerging talent, Senegal will arrive at the World Cup aiming to become Africa’s next great story on the global stage.
